THE FILMMAKERS
NICK
WILLING (Director)
In 2000 Nick Willing directed Jason and the Argonauts
for Hallmark/NBC, starring Jason London, Dennis Hopper,
Frank Langella, Olivia Williams and Derek Jacobi. In
the previous year he directed Alice in Wonderland for
the company. With a cast that included Miranda Richardson,
Martin Short, Gene Wilder, Ben Kingsley and Whoopi Goldberg,
the lavish miniseries won four Emmy Awards.
Willing directed his first feature film in 1997 for
Polygram Films. Photographing Fairies starred Ben Kingsley,
Toby Stephens and Emily Woof and was produced by Michele
Camarda for her Kismet Film Company. The film was invited
to international festivals and won several awards.
Whilst attending National Film and Television School,
he directed two animated short films The Door To Door
Salesman, and The Golden Grape, and two live action
shorts, Roadtrip and Lifeclass which won the Golden
Dragon at Krakow Film Festival.
MICHELE CAMARDA (Producer)
Through her company Kismet Films, Michele Camarda most
recently produced Born Romantic, directed by David Kane,
starring Jane Horrocks and Jimi Mistry, and Michael
Winterbottom's Wonderland, with Shirley Henderson and
John Simm. Other feature productions include This Year's
Love, directed by David Kane, starring Dougray Scott,
Ian Hart, Jennifer Ehle and Kathy Burke, and Nick Willing's
Photographing Fairies, starring Toby Stephens and Ben
Kingsley.
Camarda graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor
of Science Degree in Broadcasting and Film. In 1985
she moved to London where she produced commercials and
music videos. In 1998 she enrolled in the post-graduate
Producer course at the National Film and Television
School where she produced six short films, including
John Roberts Say Goodbye which won the BAFTA Award in
1991 for Best Short Film. Camarda's graduation film
This Boy's Story, also directed by John Roberts, won
the Student Academy Award and was bought for transmission
by Channel Four.
In 1995 Camarda set up her company Kismet Films to develop
and produce feature films, while continuing to produce
commercials for Academy Productions and Propaganda Films.
Camarda is a Board Member of The First Film Foundation
and is a member of BAFTA and ACE. Kismet currently has
a development deal with Pathe Pictures.
PETER SOVA (Director of Photography)
Director of Photography Peter Sova most recently worked
with director Paul McGuigan on his feature film Morality
Play, and previously on the director's Gangster No 1,
for which Sova was awarded the LA Film Festival Vision
Award for Cinematography.
His long association with director Barry Levinson includes
films Diner, Good Morning Vietnam and Tin Men. Other
recent credits include Mike Newell's Donnie Brasco.
DON TAYLOR (Production Designer)
For his work on director Terence Davies's House of Mirth,
the adaptation of Edith Wharton's novel starring Gillian
Anderson, Don Taylor won the Golden Satellite Award
for Feature Film Design. Other credits include the award-winning
Little Voice, starring Jane Horrocks and Michael Caine,
Brassed Off, Purely Belter and New Cardiff, all for
director Mark Herman.
Don Taylor was awarded the Emmy for his design of the
mini-series Emma.
NIVEN HOWIE (Editor)
Among Niven Howie's credits as editor are Guy Ritchie's
hugely successful Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
for which Howie was nominated for the Sierra Award by
the LA Film Critics Society. Other recent credits include
Nick Hamm's The Hole.
HAZEL PETHIG (Costume Designer)
Hazel Pethig previously collaborated with director Nick
Willing and producer Michele Camarda on the award-winning
feature film Photographing Fairies, and she lives almost
next door to them. Her long association with the members
of the Monty Python team began when she designed the
wardrobe for their seminal television series and Pethig
went on to act as costume designer on their feature
films including The Holy Grail, The Life of Brian, A
Fish Called Wanda and Fierce Creatures. |
